CLEPSYDRA (WATER CLOCK)
"E" Street Plaza, Davis Parks and Community Services, City of Davis, CA | 2003
Production: Water, 2 sided 4' diameter clock with neon, aluminum, stainless steel; 9' seat diameter at base, 14' high.
Description: Community Services water pours down the outside diameter of the central column so that it appears that the clock is held aloft by a column of water.
Seating at the base surrounds the column and provides a cooling perch in weather that reaches 106 degrees in the summer. At night the clock face glows with a turquoise light.
Clepsydra becomes the focal point of "E" Street Plaza, creating a 'town' center for this very active downtown district.
