Description: Deconstruction Zone postulates an explosion occurring at the D. Zelinsky paint warehouse, once located on the site. The building is impacted by the forces of energy and destroyed by their explosion. The remains of the concrete foundation, still rooted in the ground, trace the footprints of the warehouse. Radiating out from the concrete shards and suspended between the walls of the two adjacent buildings, fragments of exposed wood and metal stud walls, and sections of translucent wire mesh, build a mirage of wall planes in space. Seen from Grove and Ivy Streets, the geometry of the warehouse walls appears to be arrested in time and space, and to hover like an illusion of a building captured in a ‘freeze-frame’ photograph, in defiance of gravity.
